Character and Background design based on location

A character and background design based around Newman House; a historical 1700's building just off St. Steven's Green, Dublin, which we visited this year in college.

I based my character around Richard "Burn-Chapel" Whaley, the man who commissioned the original building to be constructed.

Chapel Whaley had an interesting story:
He gained his nickname "Burn-Chapel" from the several Catholic churches he burnt down on his frequent priest hunts. He also wanted to make the adjacent building look like a "pigsty in comparison" to his own. Irony lies in his and the building's legacy, as Whaley died only a couple of years after his building's construction, to which it would eventually become part of UCD - a Catholic run university - and be joined with the adjacent building he wanted to outdo so badly.

I thought these elements were perfect to inform a character and their visual design. I incorporated the frustration I thought he would feel and fire motif as a ghost forced to linger eternally inside and bear witness to the what would become of his home, unable to effect the occurring changes so against his values and wishes.

I also put on a medieval face brace designed to prevented speech and used exclusively on women to make an example of them for gossiping to humiliate and torment Whaley further.
